Baseball Recap: St. Ignatius College Preparatory Gets the Win

While St. Ignatius College Preparatory put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Archbishop Riordan. The Wildcats walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Crusaders. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won five in a row.

Tycco Giometti led a balanced Wildcats bullpen and struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Giometti has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Ignatius College Preparatory's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Beau Schaffer, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Ryan Rosenthal also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory's win bumped their record up to 5-2-2. As for Archbishop Riordan, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: St. Ignatius College Preparatory beat the Crusaders by a score of 11-0 on Friday.
