Baseball Recap: Greely Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Greely extended their postseason success on Saturday against Lake Region. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lakers a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Keeler Vogt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Wyatt Soucie was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May. Luke Piper was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Greely is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Region, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-5.

As of now, neither Greely nor the Lakers have any future games scheduled.
