North Rowan has gone 8-1 against South Stanly recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The North Rowan Cavaliers will head out to face off against the South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for North Rowan and 32 for South Stanly dating back to last season.

Last Friday, North Rowan came up short against Salisbury and fell 49-37.

Despite the defeat, North Rowan got top-tier performance from Dasia Elder, who posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 43.2% of North Rowan's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allanah McAuthur, who put up ten points and six boards.

Meanwhile, South Stanly played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 67-18 loss at the hands of Union Academy. While losing is never fun, the Rowdy Rebel Bulls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 595th, while the Cardinals are ranked 150th).

Briley Page was South Stanly's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Mya McCray held things down on the boards with five rebounds. Kanija Colson took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

North Rowan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for South Stanly, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: North Rowan has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26 rebounds per game. However, it's not like South Stanly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Everything came up roses for North Rowan against South Stanly in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-2 win. In that game, North Rowan amassed a halftime lead of 41-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
