Basketball Game Preview: Washington Academy Raiders vs. Woodland Dragons

The Washington Academy Raiders will head out to square off against the Woodland Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Saturday, Washington Academy came up short against Old Town and fell 47-39. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Coyotes are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, Woodland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were dealt an 86-17 defeat at the hands of Penobscot Valley. The game marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Washington Academy and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Woodland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Everything came up roses for Washington Academy against Woodland in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 57-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washington Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
