Recap: Weddington Warriors vs. Porter Ridge Pirates
It was a good run, but the Weddington Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Porter Ridge, falling 71-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Weddington has suffered yet this season.
Weddington's loss came despite strong showings from Caroline Clark and Mia Brosterhous. Clark scored 11 points along with three steals, while Brosterhous scored six points along with five rebounds. Clark has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Bergman, who scored eight points.
Ashanti Taylor continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Porter Ridge, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Miley Malcolm was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Weddington's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Porter Ridge, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Weddington will take on Cuthbertson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Porter Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Legion Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Legion Collegiate Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
