Basketball Recap: Ryker Miller Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Pathway Christian's strategy against Unity Christian on Thursday. The Pathway Christian Panthers were the clear victor by a 44-22 margin over the Unity Christian Knights. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly 22 points.

Pathway Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryker Miller led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Miller also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Pathway Christian is 2-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-3 otherwise. Denver Nelson was another key player, putting up 11 points and five assists.

Pathway Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

The win got Pathway Christian back to even at 4-4. As for Unity Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Pathway Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Morning Star Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pathway Christian has four straight wins, Morning Star Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court. Unity Christian will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against East Moline Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
