Baseball Recap: Fresno Christian Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Fresno Christian can now relate to. They lost 18-5 to the Mendota Aztecs on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Aztecs: they've now lost five in a row.

Braden Belmont and Ellijah Corroa stepped up to the plate in a big way. Belmont got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Corroa went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Corroa has become a key player for Fresno Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 10-16 otherwise.

Fresno Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Mendota, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.
