Basketball Recap: Lutheran Comes Up Short

The Lutheran Cougars lost 67-46 to the Alton Redbirds on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 352nd in Missouri, while the Redbirds are ranked 34th in Illinois).

Lutheran dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Alton, they moved to 16-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hazelwood West at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Alton, they will take on East St. Louis at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
