Baseball Game Preview: Madison Trojans vs. Hillsdale Hornets

For the second straight game, Madison will face off against Hillsdale. The Trojans will challenge the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Madison has five straight wins, Hillsdale has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Madison didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Hillsdale by a score of 10-6 on Tuesday.

Cole Grof looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Madison got a massive performance out of Cameron Barber, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave Barber a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Norman Frederick, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base.

Madison's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Hillsdale, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
