Softball Game Preview: Minico Spartans vs. Century Diamondbacks

Minico hasn't had much luck against Century recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Spartans will take on the Diamondbacks at 3:00 p.m. Minico has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Minico is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game last Saturday. They came up short against Shelley, falling 16-4.

Madi Fowler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. Nye Salinas was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Century scored first but ultimately less than Burley in their game on Tuesday. They lost 14-1 to the Bobcats.

Century saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ally Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Minico's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Century, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-6.

Century's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Minico has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. It's a different story for Century, though, as they've only averaged .320.
