Baseball Recap: Eunice Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Eunice waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Texico Wolverines. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 14-4 victory on Tuesday.

Elijah Melancon looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Andrez Serrano was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Tyson Coy was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs.

Eunice kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.

Eunice's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Texico, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eunice will face off against Loving at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Texico, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tularosa at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
