Baseball Game Preview: Alden-Hebron Green Giants vs. Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders

The Alden-Hebron Green Giants will venture away from home to challenge the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Alden-Hebron lost 19-1 to Johnsburg on Monday.

Alden-Hebron saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Nunez, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ashton-Franklin Center). Their pitcher stepped up to hand West Carroll a 17-0 shutout on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on three straight.

Caleb Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brock Lehman, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan O'Brien, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Ashton-Franklin Center always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Alden-Hebron's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, their record is now 3-1.

Alden-Hebron suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Ashton-Franklin Center in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Alden-Hebron avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
