Basketball Game Preview: Holcomb Hornets vs. Greenville Bears

The Holcomb Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Greenville Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Holcomb is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Campbell 67-52 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Greenville took their game on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 64-27 win over Puxico. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Greenville's win came from a few key players Holcomb will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ariel West, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Ella Walk was another key player, going 7 of 16 en route to 17 points along with five assists and three steals.

Greenville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Greenville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32 points. As for Holcomb, they pushed their record up to 4-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Holcomb took their win against Greenville when the teams last played back in December of 2019 by a conclusive 45-25. Will Holcomb repeat their success, or does Greenville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
