Softball Recap: University City Takes a Loss

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, University City was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They came up short against the Scripps Ranch Falcons, falling 10-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Centurions of the 7-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

University City got a good showing from Riley Conklin, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Conklin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

University City has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10-1 record this season. As for Scripps Ranch, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

University City has already played their next matchup, a 5-1 loss against Mira Mesa on the 17th. As for Scripps Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-4 win against Madison on the 17th.
