Volleyball Recap: Mt. Carmel Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Mt. Carmel entered their tilt with St. Thomas More on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Cougars. For the Cubs, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Mt. Carmel who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-10, 18-25, 15-12.

Lila Franovich paced Mt. Carmel's offense, picking up ten kills. Franovich got some help from Sarah Clement and her 19 assists. Finally, Alexandra Comeaux kept Mt. Carmel's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Mt. Carmel's win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for St. Thomas More, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 15-1.

Coincidentally, Mt. Carmel and St. Thomas More will both be playing Madison-Ridgeland Academy the next time they take the court. The Cubs will head out to face the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cougars will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
