Baseball Recap: Ingleside Comes Up Short

Ingleside extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 10-15-2. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jones Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in March.

Marcus Barron put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Barron wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Techur, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

As for Jones, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

On Jones' side, Tyler Lang was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Lang a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jojo Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Ingleside wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-1 win against Premont on the 18th. As for Jones, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-10 victory against Robstown on the 22nd.
