The St. Michael the Archangel Guardians will square off against the Odessa Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Michael the Archangel has three straight victories, Odessa has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, St. Michael the Archangel made easy work of University Academy Charter and carried off an 18-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Guardians, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Gage Burgess looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Carson Hass was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. JT Morehead was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
St. Michael the Archangel hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.
Odessa had taken Marshall down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Bulldogs came up short against the Owls, falling 10-4. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly six runs.
St. Michael the Archangel's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Odessa, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
