Volleyball Recap: La Junta Tigers vs. Manitou Springs Mustangs
La Junta was the 3-1 winner over Manitou Springs when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers fell 3-1 to the Mustangs on Saturday. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 25-19 in the first set.
La Junta started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-13, 26-24, 25-20.
Despite the defeat, La Junta saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mia Whatley had 16 digs and two aces.
La Junta's loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 12-11. As for Manitou Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.
