Baseball Recap: Pekin Dragons vs. Normal University Pioneers
Pekin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They came up short against the Normal University Pioneers, falling 12-1. If the Dragons were looking for revenge after losing 13-3 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Pekin got a good showing from Perry Miller, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Miller a new career-low in walks (one).
On the hitting side, Mason Hanvey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Pekin's record now sits at 5-16. As for Normal University, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Pekin is taking a road trip to take on Canton at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Normal University, they will be playing at home against Glenwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
