Basketball Recap: East Central Takes a Loss

East Central lost against Laurel back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The East Central Hornets had to suffer through a 63-14 loss at the hands of the Laurel Golden Tornadoes. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-5.

Kayllis Walker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Laurel, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Walker is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Karly Hunter was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for East Central and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Laurel, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Central will take on Gautier at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laurel, they will face off against Wayne County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
