Baseball Recap: Northwestern Lehigh Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

While Northwestern Lehigh's win against Jim Thorpe wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers skirted past the Olympians 14-13. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2019.

Watson Church was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cannon Fitch, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Northwestern Lehigh is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Jim Thorpe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwestern Lehigh will venture away from home to take on Lehighton at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Jim Thorpe, they will head out on the road to square off against Southern Lehigh at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Olympians surely won't give up without a fight.
