Football Recap: Souderton Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Souderton was riding high fresh off their 56-13 takedown of Bensalem last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Council Rock South Golden Hawks on Thursday. The Indians were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the four games prior), but the Golden Hawks' defense proved too tough.

Ben Walsh threw for 171 yards and one touchdown. Hunter Smeltz was his top target, picking up 142 receiving yards.

Souderton's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for Council Rock South, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Souderton will host Council Rock North at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. Souderton will be up against Council Rock North's rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.57 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Council Rock South, they will challenge Quakertown at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
