Basketball Recap: Owen Brackmann Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Carl Hayden Community

Horizon had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 win over the Carl Hayden Community Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted since January 9th.

Horizon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Brackmann led the charge by going 6-for-9 to rack up 13 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Woodward, who posted 11 points and five assists.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joseph Lindsey Jr, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine assists. Azariah Reetz was another key player, shooting 83% from the field on his way to 11 points and five boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Carl Hayden Community fell to 2-1.

Horizon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-32 loss against Chaparral on the 25th. As for Carl Hayden Community, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-49 defeat against Dysart on the 25th.
