Baseball Recap: Lakeview Comes Up Short

Lakeview lost against Mattawan on Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Spartans lost 9-2 to the Wildcats. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zack Rogers was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lakeview's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Mattawan, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-4-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeview will venture away from home to take on Lakeshore at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mattawan, they will head out to face off against Kalamazoo Central at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
