Softball Recap: Lake Park's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lake Park entered their tilt with Buffalo Grove on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 9-2 victory. Considering the Lancers have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaylee Fritzler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Ava Arenz was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Ariana O'Connell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lake Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buffalo Grove only managed three hits.

Lake Park pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Buffalo Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Park will welcome Glenbard North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Buffalo Grove, they will be playing at home against Hersey at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
