Baseball Recap: South Warren Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

The home team had come away the winner the last five times South Warren and Glasgow had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Spartans put the hurt on the Scotties with a sharp 9-3 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Owen Perkins looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joseph Fentress, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Jaxen Decker was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

South Warren kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.

South Warren's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Glasgow, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Warren will face off against Franklin-Simpson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glasgow, they will take on Bowling Green at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scotties' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Purples have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
