Huntingdon had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the McKenzie Rebels with a sharp 41-21 win on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Mustangs have posted against the Rebels since August 23, 2019.

Huntingdon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tyreke Hutch and Brennan Meggs.

Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacobi Melton, who picked up 136 receiving yards and one score.

Huntingdon and McKenzie should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Mustangs (ranked 40th) will meet Camden Central (ranked 194th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, McKenzie will face off against Dresden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (48 vs. 156).
