Recap: Cairo Pilots vs. Mt. Vernon Rams
The Cairo Pilots suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were dealt a 80-40 loss at the hands of Mt. Vernon. Cairo was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-11.
Leading Mt. Vernon to victory were Melaina Zedalis and Tiara Johnson. Zedalis scored 16 points, while Johnson scored 24 points. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Poole, who scored ten points.
Cairo has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.
Cairo will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Varsity Opponent on January 16th. As for Mt. Vernon, they will take on Carterville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carterville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
