Volleyball Recap: Christian Brothers Academy Falls to Jackson Memorial in First Game of Season

Christian Brothers Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Jackson Memorial Jaguars by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. If the Colts were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Christian Brothers Academy lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 26-24, 25-23.

When it comes to explaining why Christian Brothers Academy lost, don't look at Will Cusat. Despite the final result, he had ten digs and four assists. Those four assists gave Cusat a new career-high.

Among those leading the charge was Ivan Pantoja, who had 17 digs and two assists.

Christian Brothers Academy and Jackson Memorial will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Christian Brothers Academy will face off against rival Freehold Boro at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Jackson Memorial is set to take on their familiar foe Southern Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
