Baseball Game Preview: John Marshall Monarchs vs. St. Clairsville Red Devils

The John Marshall Monarchs will head out to square off against the St. Clairsville Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

John Marshall made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wheeling Park, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Monarchs fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The Monarchs haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Hayden Hughes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, St. Clairsville suffered their closest defeat since May 30, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Brooke by a score of 13-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (ten), the Red Devils still had to take the loss.

St. Clairsville's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3. As for John Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

John Marshall skirted past St. Clairsville 13-12 in their previous matchup on Thursday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Monarchs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
