Basketball Recap: Brayden Healey Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat North Smithfield

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mt. Hope, Toll Gate was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They managed a 59-53 victory over the North Smithfield Northmen. The Titans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Northmen, too.

Toll Gate's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Healey, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave Healey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Damola Oremosu, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Several Northmen players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Connor Reilly, who posted 20 points. Sam Drolet was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Toll Gate is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for North Smithfield, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-6 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Toll Gate will square off against Davies Career & Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Toll Gate is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.9 points per game this season. As for North Smithfield, they will face off against Prout at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Prout's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
