Basketball Recap: Van Horn Takes a Loss

The matchup between Van Horn and Fort Hancock on Tuesday hardly resembled the 42-21 effort from their previous meeting. The Van Horn Eagles took a 58-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Hancock Mustangs. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

Leading Fort Hancock to victory were Armando Munoz and Patrick Hernandez. Munoz went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and seven steals, while Hernandez went 5 of 12 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Munoz a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Inaki Arriaga, who posted eight points.

Van Horn's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Fort Hancock, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-13 record.

Van Horn will welcome Iraan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Hancock, they will head out on the road to face off against McCamey at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
