Basketball Game Preview: North Star Academy vs. North Plainfield Canucks

North Star Academy are taking a road trip to challenge the North Plainfield Canucks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. North Star Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully North Plainfield likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, North Star Academy strolled past Belleville with points to spare, taking the game 55-41.

Johnny Mayers Ii had an outrageously good game as he went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tajee Carter, who went 5 of 11 en route to 11 points along with six assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, North Plainfield might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Bridgewater-Raritan an easy 78-57 win. The defeat continues a trend for the Canucks in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost seven in a row.

North Star Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for North Plainfield, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
