Basketball Recap: Caldwell Starts Season with Victory at Home

Caldwell gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They managed a 59-53 win over the Buckeye Trail Warriors. The victory continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Leading Caldwell to victory were Breighlee Moracco and Mea Hendershot. Moracco shot 57% from the field en route to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals, while Hendershot posted 17 points along with eight boards and three steals. Moracco is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Laynie Sidwell, who put up nine points and three steals.

Coming up, Caldwell will challenge Waterford at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Buckeye Trail, they will head out to challenge Crooksville at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
