Softball Recap: Wausau West Warriors vs. Stevens Point Panthers
Wausau West extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They lost 7-1 to the Stevens Point Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 back in April.
As for Stevens Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Considering they have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Stevens Point's part, Reanna Canfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. Canfield has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 16 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Addi Peskie was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sophia Abundiz, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Wausau West is set to square off against their familiar foe Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Stevens Point will take on rival Marshfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
