Baseball Recap: AJ Stefko's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Mary's Ryken over Our Lady of Good Counsel

St. Mary's Ryken blew Our Lady of Good Counsel out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Our Lady of Good Counsel got their revenge. The Knights might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-3 to the Falcons, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Dillon Gordon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, St. Mary's Ryken saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Stefko, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

St. Mary's Ryken dropped their record down to 7-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of Good Counsel is set to take on their familiar foe Paul VI at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.5, the Panthers 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
