Basketball Game Preview: Central Lions vs. Calhoun Tigers

Central and Calhoun are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Central Lions duke it out with the Calhoun Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Central will be strutting in after a win while Calhoun will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with 25 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Central turned things around against Ellwood Christian on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 26-24 victory over the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Calhoun was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 43-15 loss at the hands of Hatch. The match marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Central's win ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7. As for Calhoun, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Central lost to Calhoun at home by a decisive 35-19 margin in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Calhoun's Kamelia Hunter, who went 9 of 17 en route to 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
