Basketball Recap: Effingham County Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Effingham County Rebels took a blow against the Walton Raiders, falling 73-43. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Raiders are ranked sixth).

Effingham County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elyjah Doty, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points. Lamar Roberts was another key player, putting up ten points.

Effingham County now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Walton, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Effingham County will head out to face off against Lakeside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Walton, they will host North Cobb at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Walton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
