Softball Game Preview: Fordyce Redbugs vs. Gurdon Go-Devils

The Fordyce Redbugs will challenge the Gurdon Go-Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Fordyce has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 7.

Fordyce fell victim to Poyen and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 17-0 to the Indians.

Meanwhile, Gurdon can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Poyen.

Sadie Griffin made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Mikaela Bradshaw was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Addi Jones was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Fordyce's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Gurdon, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

Fordyce might still be hurting after the 19-1 defeat they got from Gurdon when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Redbugs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
