Baseball Recap: Paul Cuffee Sets Scoring Season-High Against Classical

Paul Cuffee had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it seven. They lost 18-6 to the Classical Purple. On the bright side, the six- run effort marked Paul Cuffee's highest-scoring matchup to date.

As for Classical, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-11 record this season. That looming 18-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Classical's part, Allen Espinal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Classical is 3-1 when Espinal allows one or fewer hits, but 0-10 otherwise. Espinal was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Classical got a massive performance out of Josiah Niyahkoon, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Niyahkoon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was William Rocchio, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
