Ayer Shirley had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 4-6-1 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Murdock Blue Devils 8-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Devon Perwak made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Perwak was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Reardon, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Kiley Hoeske was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Murdock, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked their highest-scoring match to date.

On Murdock's side, Madelyn Santos and Sadie Bauver did some serious damage despite the final result: Santos went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Bauver went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kenndra Lamb, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ayer Shirley beat Murdock by a score of 6-3 later that day.
