Softball Recap: Taylorville Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Taylorville's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the New Berlin Pretzels get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tornadoes as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Peyton DeMichael spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grace Rogers, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Livia Havera was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Taylorville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Taylorville's record is now 3-17. As for New Berlin, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Taylorville will take on Maroa-Forsyth at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tornadoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. New Berlin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
