Softball Game Preview: Farmersville Aztecs vs. Orange Cove Titans

Farmersville is 0-10 against Orange Cove since May of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Aztecs will welcome the Titans at 4:00 p.m. Farmersville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Orange Cove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Farmersville made easy work of Orosi and carried off a 24-8 win. The Aztecs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Orange Cove entered their tilt with North on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Stars by a score of 7-3.

Daisy Regalado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Orange Cove got a big performance out of Madeline Powers, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassandra Ocejo, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Orange Cove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Farmersville's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Orange Cove, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Farmersville couldn't quite get it done against Orange Cove in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Aztecs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
