Baseball Recap: Fairmont Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Red Springs last Tuesday, Fairmont came back down to earth. Fairmont fell just short of the Whiteville Wolfpack by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Golden Tornadoes were not able to get on the board.

Fairmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nehemiah Chavis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Fairmont's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Whiteville, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairmont will take on Red Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fairmont is facing Red Springs at the right time seeing as Red Springs is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Whiteville, they will face off against West Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Whiteville will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: West Columbus will have lost three straight heading into Friday's contest.
