Center Hill is 1-9 against Oxford since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Center Hill fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Grenada on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers.

Mac Atkins was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Deshann Hannah was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cooper McCool, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Oxford had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Chargers considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Sovient Taylor looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Blackwood, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Oxford is undefeated when Blackwood posts two or more runs, but 9-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sharpe Smith, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Oxford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
Center Hill's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Oxford, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
Center Hill might still be hurting after the 14-1 defeat they got from Oxford in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
