League recap: Westlake extends winning streak with victory over Great Mills

Westlake extended the longest winning streak in Southern Maryland this week by beating Great Mills, 46-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Wolverines.

North Point took down La Plata 59-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brandon Battle threw for 132 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 34 yards in the win.

Calvert's dynamic duo of Jermaine Hunter and Datavious Thomas proved tough for Patuxent to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hunter threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns and Thomas had 152 yards receiving. Sean Kinney helped Calvert's passing attack out by catching five balls for 71 yards.

Travez Lee was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 238 yards as the Panthers lost to the Panthers. Teammate Rafiq Douglas added to the ground attack by rushing for 152 yards.

McDonough's Devone Boone and James Harrell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Boone has thrown for 1215 yards this season, while Harrell has 34 catches for 793 yards. Patuxent's Lee leads the league in rushing yards with 1228.

The Eagles' Marquel Dickerson needs only 67 yards against Westlake next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 107 carries Dickerson has accumulated 933 yard this year.

A big matchup in Southern Maryland this week will be when the Rams take on Calvert. McDonough is currently in second, while Rick Sneade's team is in sixth.

Luke Ethington's team and Stone played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Luke Ethington's team eventually emerging with a 21-19 victory. Boone threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 57 yards in the win.
