Softball Game Preview: Sherman Tide vs. Greenbrier West Cavaliers

The Sherman Tide will venture away from home to take on the Greenbrier West Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Chapmanville Regional hit Sherman with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tide lost 10-2 to the Tigers. The loss continues a trend for the Tide in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Greenbrier West ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Nicholas County 8-6. The win was familiar territory for the Cavaliers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Brilee Redden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Preslee Treadway was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Diana Porter, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Sherman's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Greenbrier West, their record is now 13-7.

Sherman came up short against Greenbrier West when the teams last played on April 2nd, falling 6-3. Can the Tide avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
