Minco has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Hinton Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hinton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Minco, who comes in off a win.
Minco put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season last Friday. They blew past Coleman 12-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Minco considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Paden Ferguson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Ferguson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Minco let Sebastian Valdez and Cashton Johnson loose on the outfield. Valdez scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Johnson scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Reed McMurtrey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Hinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 11-1 defeat at the hands of Apache.
Minco's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Hinton, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Minco took their victory against Hinton when the teams last played on March 4th by a conclusive 17-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Minco since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
