Baseball Recap: Knightstown Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Knightstown barely beat Blue River Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Vikings 14-2 on Thursday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Andrew Buchanan looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Jackson Daves was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Travis Louks, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Knightstown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in three consecutive games.

Knightstown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Blue River Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Coming up, Knightstown will venture away from home to square off against Union City at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Blue River Valley, they will host Wapahani at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
