Ontario had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Montclair last Friday. Ontario's pitcher stepped up to hand Montclair an 11-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Jaguars have posted against the Cavaliers since April 26, 2022.
Eric Samaniego made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Samaniego was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Damian Lua, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Modesto Verdin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Ontario always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Don Lugo posted their closest win since April 23, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Chaffey, sneaking past 5-4.
Jaden Burillo was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Ishmael Fox, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Ontario's record is now 5-3. As for Don Lugo, their record now sits at 4-6.
Ontario suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Don Lugo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Ontario avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
